BIG SHINY BLOG POST IN YOUR BROWSER!!

Well, its been a fairly eventful week in my post-pneumonia phase. I have been fairly busy with work that I haven't had time to post about a few things that I've meant to post about, so here they all are :

1. Lost

If getting sick has made me learn anything it is how much I have missed the joy of sitting down and watching a really well written TV show that builds up its story week after week (oh, how I miss you Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Lost is quickly becoming my favorite show in a really long time, probably my favorite since the first season of Alias (yet another JJ Abrams creation). The premise is simple enough, get a bunch of strangers stuck on a remote island and watch their past histories unfold, throw in some sort of mysterious monster on the island (or is it a monster) and give the audience just enough information to keep you guessing about whats going to happen next and you've got yourself a really great tv show. My favorite moment so far was the discovery of the Polar Bear. And that channel 4 advert, brilliant: 'all of us are guilty, all of us are lost.' Indeed.

2. Pedestrians That Annoy

Ok, if there was one thing that really bothers me about pedestrians in London is the ones who are so ignorant to the pedestrian crossing button that needs to be pushed. If you get to a crossing first, you should look and see if the button has already been pushed, instead of just standing there for endless minutes totally oblivious to the fact that the light won't change anytime soon. It really grates on me. They're the same types of people who don't stand on the right in the tube escelator as advised, completely oblivious to their surroundings. Arrgh

3. Death of a Salesmen / Break and Enter

This past saturday was supposed a really nice chilled day, and it started out that way. My friend Andi got us tickets for Death of A Salesmen in the west end as an early birthday gift for myself. We met up at 2pm and watched the matinee, a really great production, with what can only be described as a brilliant turn by Brian Dennehy in the lead. It reduced me to tears.

4. Crash

Ok, yet another review, but its been a good couple of weeks in terms of quality entertainment. A greatly (if a tad flawed) film about race relations in Lost Angeles. I really wish the director was a bit more confident in his storytelling and excellent script by not trying to hammer the point at certain key points. And if you blink, and you'll miss Star Trek's Marina Sirtis as the wife of the Persian shop owner. She gives what I thought was the best line of the film "They think we're Arab. When did Persian become Arab."

Tune In ...

Well, I have finally come 'round to accepting ITUNES as the way to play all my mp3 music, and its absolutely fantastic. I can see now why people have been snapping up ipods like mad. The set-up and features are very user friendly. My only little quibble is that the itune Music store is slightly lacking when it comes to dance tracks, I wish it could be a bit more cutting edge and current, but maybe its too niche a market. But my favorite part of the whole thing is the 'play count' feature that you are able to reset fairly easily. Finally, I am able to re-introduce my Most Played Tracks of the Week feature as shown below. Yes, my Moonriver phase is in full force but I have a feeling Missy Elliott will be next weeks most played. Stay tuned.
